Tin Roost in North Liberty, IA is hiring a full-time Kitchen Lead to join our team.
If you have restaurant kitchen experience and enjoy leading a team while staying hands-on during service, we’d like to hear from you. Our Kitchen Leads help keep daily kitchen operations running smoothly by supporting the team, managing the line during service, and making sure food is prepared safely, efficiently, and consistently.
Tin Roost is a locally owned, independent restaurant in North Liberty with a scratch kitchen serving homegrown American favorites. From smoked meats and burgers to breaded tenderloins, cheese curds, and hearty salads, our kitchen prepares food with quality ingredients and plenty of variety. With more than 400 seats, private events, and a large patio, our kitchen stays busy and offers plenty of opportunity to grow your leadership and restaurant experience.
Pay
$18 - $20 per hour based on experience
Schedule & Availability
- Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week
- Night shift availability is required
- Weekend availability is required

What You’ll Do
- Help lead and support cooks, dishwashers, and other kitchen team members during daily operations
- Manage the line during service and help keep the kitchen organized and moving efficiently
- Assist with line prep, station setup, and food preparation as needed
- Train and coach kitchen team members on recipes, procedures, and kitchen standards
- Monitor food quality, consistency, portioning, and presentation
- Make sure orders are prepared accurately and in a timely manner
- Support proper food handling, labeling, storage, and rotation
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment
- Follow and reinforce food safety and sanitation procedures
- Communicate with kitchen leadership and team members throughout each shift
- Help identify and address equipment, inventory, or operational needs
- Support the kitchen team wherever needed during busy service periods
- Complete other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
- Previous restaurant kitchen experience
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience is preferred
- Comfortable leading a team while also working hands-on in the kitchen
- Ability to stay organized and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable and dependable for scheduled shifts
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- At least 1 year of restaurant kitchen experience
- Weekend availability is required
- Ability to stand and move throughout the kitchen for extended periods
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working around heat, steam, and commercial kitchen equipment
